No. 16 Mavericks Down No. 3 North Dakota 3-2

The No. 16 Omaha Mavericks downed the No. 3 North Dakota Fighting Hawks 3-2 in tonight's series opener.
Blueliner Jacob Guevin got the scoring started tonight with a wrist shot from the point at 9:05 of the first period. His third goal of the campaign was assisted by Jack Randl and Griffin Ludtke. Three-and-a-half minutes later, UND tied things up at 1-1 with a power play goal.
Tied after 20 minutes of hockey, Tanner Ludtke and Victor Mancini scored 1:16 apart to take a 3-1 lead on the Fighting Hawks. 1:22 later, UND threw a puck from behind the net on goal that trickled in by Simon Latkoczy to pull within one.
For the remainder of the night, the Mavericks shut down North Dakota to secure their 19th victory of the season. Omaha did a good job limiting North Dakota's chances in the third period despite being outshot 14-4.
The Mavericks and Fighting Hawks will wrap up the regular season tomorrow night from Baxter Arena. Puck drop slated for 7:07 p.m.

The Mavericks PK went 3-for-4 tonight. In the second period, Omaha killed 1:28 of a UND 5-on-3 power play to keep things even at 1-1
Omaha improves to an astounding 15-1 in one-goal decisions
When scoring the first goal, Omaha is 14-7 on the campaign. In the last 31 games against UND, the team that scores first is 27-3-1.
When leading after two periods, the Mavericks are now 12-1-1
Recording his 16th win of the campaign, Simon Latkoczy stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced this evening
