OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Men's Basketball team added some international talent today as freshman center Pablo Soumare officially joins the team from Dakar, Senegal.
Playing for Veritas Academy in Ontario, Canada last year as part of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, Pablo brings a strong physical presence to the court at 6'9" 265 pounds. Playing all 12 games for the Titans in 2023-24, he averaged 5.67 ppg while shooting 44.0% from the floor. He was also second on the team in total rebounds (42), rebounds per game (5.67), steals (13), and blocks (eight).
In his first ever game in the Nike EYBL, Pablo pulled down eight boards in what would be his first of eight games with at least five rebounds. He also scored in double figures three times, and in two of those games he also had nine rebounds.
"Pablo brings size and athleticism to our roster at 6'9" 265 pounds and is a post player that plays with a tremendous motor and tenacity," exclaimed Head Coach Chris Crutchfield. "We expect him to help us with our defensive rebounding and physicality. As a freshman, Pablo's best basketball is ahead of him. Looking forward to work with him."
