Men's Basketball bested by James Madison to start FIU MTE

MIAMI - Omaha Men's Basketball's offense was clicking Tuesday night, but the Mavericks couldn't cool off James Madison as the Dukes won 88-77 at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
James Madison hit 17 of 30 3-pointers and shot 55.2 percent overall from the field as it held a double-digit lead throughout the second half.
Omaha shot 49.2 percent from the field and had five players in double figures.
Guard Lance Waddles flirted with a triple-double as he finished with team-highs of 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Khamani Cooper added 16 points, Christian Richardson had 11 points and Tony Osburn and Grant Stubblefield chipped in 10 each.
Omaha (2-5) led early on before James Madison took control in the middle portion of the first half.
Omaha's lead was 10-7 five minutes into the game before the Dukes outscored the Mavs 32-8 over the next nine minutes. James Madison (5-3) hit seven 3-pointers during that run.
Omaha quickly scored 10 straight to cut its deficit to 39-28 late in the first half, but James Madison again stretched its advantage, leading 53-32 in the opening minute of the second half.
The Mavs never got closer than 11 the rest of the way, even though they shot the ball very well after halftime.
Omaha hit 12 of its first 17 shots from the field after halftime, but with seven minutes left the Mavs still trailed 84-62 as James Madison was even hotter than Omaha.
James Madison hit 14 of 18 to start the second half, including 8 of 12 threes. Justin McBride led the Dukes with 24 points.
Omaha looks to bounce back in a 1 p.m. CT game against FIU on Wednesday on ESPN+ and 1290 KOIL. James Madison defeated FIU 80-72 Monday.
