Ja Harvey named Co-Kwik Star Summit League Women’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week

Mavericks senior scored 34 points in win over USD
After equaling the most points scored in a game by a Maverick in a decade, senior Ja Harvey has been named Co-Kwik Star Summit League Women's Basketball Peak Performer of the Week. She shares the honor with SDSU's Brooklyn Meyer.
The senior from San Diego made four of seven three-pointers en route to a career-high 34 points, to go with six rebounds, four assists and four steals in Omaha's 71-57 win over South Dakota Thursday night. It was Omaha's only game of the week. Harvey's night against the Coyotes is the highest point total for Omaha this season and equals the most scored by a Maverick since Mikaela Shaw poured in 38 at North Dakota State ten years ago (2/14/15). Aaliyah Stanley also scored 34 points at Kansas City 12/31/2022.
An active member of the Army National Guard, Harvey's leadership has been evident on and off the court for the Mavericks after transferring to Omaha for her senior season. The 27-year-old two-time JUCO All-American was previously named the league's Peak Newcomer of the Month for December. She is the recipient of Omaha's two league honors this season.
For the season, Harvey averages 14.6 points per game, 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game, second in the Summit League. She also leads the conference in free throw percentage at 85.1% which ranks 51st in NCAA Division I. After missing four games while under concussion protocol, Harvey has sparked the Mavericks to three wins in their last four games. In that span she has averaged 22 points per game.

Omaha closes out the regular season with games at North Dakota (February 27) and North Dakota State (March 1) before playing in the Summit League Championship tournament (March 9-12).
