Sutton Named Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Month

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - For his efforts in leading the Mavericks to a 7-1 record and a first place ranking in the Summit League, Marquel Sutton has been named the conference's Kwik Star Peak Male Performer of the Month.
Sutton totaled 160 points and 62 rebounds in January, shooting 50% from the field (57-for-114) and totaled 39 free throws, all of which paced the team. He finished with double-digit points seven times, including six games with over 20 points. On January 29 vs. South Dakota, he tied his career high of 29 points with a season-high 13 field goals. Sutton also had two double-doubles. Led by his impressive performance, the Mavericks were able to grow their win streak to nine in a row, good for the third longest in program history.
Marquel reached several career milestones in January, joining the 1000-Point Club on January 4, before reaching 500 career rebounds on January 11 and becoming the 15th Maverick in history to reach both. He also topped 400 career field goals made on the eighth.
