Sutton Takes Home Second Summit League Player of the Month Award

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - After leading the Mavericks to the program's first ever Summit League Regular Season Title, Championship Title, and NCAA Division I Tournament appearance, Marquel Sutton has been named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Month for the second month in a row.
In seven games in February, Sutton ked the team with 161 points, 23.0 ppg, 52 rebounds, 7.4 rpg, 43 free throws, 55 field goals, and a 53.9 FG%. He scored in double figures in every game, including six with at least 20 points. Against South Dakota he posted a career-high 36 points with a season-high 14 field goals in a win to clinch the Regular Season Title. In addition to this, he had 12 rebounds that game for a double-double. Marquel also had one of his best shooting months, posting an FG% above 50% four times.
Sutton, the Summit League Player of the Year and Tournament MVP, will lead the team in its first NCAA Tournament appearance next week. The Mavericks will find out their location and opponent during Sunday night's Selection Show starting at 5 p.m. on CBS.
