Ahead of Summit League tournament, Mavericks tabbed 9th in D1 Softball Mid-Major Rankings

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha softball, the 2025 Summit League Regular Season Champions, were selected ninth in the week 13 D1 Softball Mid-Major Rankings, it was announced Wednesday. The top 10 ranking is the highest the Mavericks have attained in the history of the D1 Softball Mid-Major Poll.
Omaha has now been ranked in the D1 Softball Mid-Major Rankings seven times, including the last three straight weeks. The Mavericks were tabbed No. 21 in last week's ranking.
The Mavericks (36-10, 14-4 Summit) boast the No. 3 defense in the country by fielding percentage (.982), a source of pride for fourth-year head coach Mike Heard.
Earlier this week it was announced that eight Mavericks earned All-Summit League honors, including three First Team All-Summit selections. Maddia Groff, sophomore left-handed pitcher, was named Summit League Pitcher of the Year and senior shortstop Maggie O'Brien was crowned Defensive Player of the Year.
Omaha, the two-time defending Summit League tournament champions, faces the winner of #4 North Dakota and #5 North Dakota State on Thursday, May 8 at 11 a.m. CT in Brookings, S.D. The entire Summit League Softball Championship will air on the Summit League Network powered by Midco Sports Plus.
