LOGAN, Utah – The Omaha men's basketball team (1-2) fell to Utah State (2-0), 90-56, on Saturday afternoon in front of a raucous crowd at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah.
Omaha traded baskets with the Aggies over the first six minutes and trailed just 17-12 at the first media timeout, thanks to five points from Deke Thompson and four points from Grant Stubblefield. The Aggies began to pull away with a 13-2 run and never looked back, taking a 44-21 lead into halftime. The Mavericks found a couple of bright spots in the second half as Cory Curtis Jr. came off the bench and scored eight points over the final eight minutes, while Jonny Jordan Jr. added seven points in the second half.
Thompson led the Mavs again with 13 points and became the first player since Marquel Sutton in 2022 to score in double figures in each of the first three games of his Omaha career.
Omaha will return to Baxter Arena on Tuesday night to face York. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on the Summit League Network and the Varsity Sports App.
