Volleyball opens season against Washington State, Central Michigan

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Volleyball is back once again. The 2026 season will open on the road at Washington State and in a neutral-site match against Central Michigan.
WSU leads the series 1-0 all-time against the Mavericks with a 3-2 win on Sept. 1, 2024. The series against CMU is tied 1-1 with a 3-1 Omaha win on Aug. 29, 2024 and a 3-0 CMU win on Sept. 19, 2025.
The Mavericks returns eight players to their roster and add six newcomers, three transfers and three freshmen.
All-Summit League team honoree sophomore outside hitter Faith Venable (Lincoln, Neb.) returns for another season after finishing 2025 ranked 25th in the country in service aces. In the offseason, Omaha added local legend Hayden Hart (Omaha, Neb.) for her sophomore season. In her freshman year, she tallied 191 kills for Oral Roberts.
Head coach Matt Buttermore enters his eighth season at the helm with 116 wins for the Mavs and 292 career wins.
