Was a McDonald’s All-American nominee as a senior at Omaha Burke High School while playing for Coach Gary Graner...one of the top shooters in the state in Class A, hitting over 73 per cent of his shots...averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds per game as a junior in helping Burke to the state championship game...also lettered in track.

Born April 8, 1983 in Omaha, the son of David and Judy DeSpain...has one sister, Carolyn...majoring in pre-medicine and pre-dental studies at UNO and would like to become an orthodontist.
Coach McKenna on DeSpain:
“Chris has had a spained ankle and shin splints which have slowed him up some. Ithink eventually he’s going to be a pretty good player for us. He’s athletic and runs the court well for a big guy.”
