Mavs, Sigman Seek National Titles in Mankato
Heavyweight Les Sigman, the defending national champion, will put a 34-match winning streak on the line when he leads the No. 3 ranked Mavericks into the NCAA II national tournament this weekend. UNO will be looking for its first national mat title since 1991 when it sends 8 wrestlers into the meet at Mankato, Minn., Friday and Saturday.
Sigman, 41-1, has won 68 of his last 69 matches and is 77-4 over his two seasons at UNO.
The other Mavericks entered are Patrick Allibone, 149 pounds; Eli Dominguez, 141; J.D. Naig, 165; Chas DeVetter, 157; Mitch Waite, 133, and Dustin Tovar, 125.
