Mavs Hold First Spring Scrimmage
The Maverick offense racked up 220 yards in their first scrimmage of spring practice Saturday afternoon at Al Caniglia Field.
A total of three touchdowns were scored in the one hour and 15 minute, 67-play workout. UNO combined 164 rushing yards with 56 passing yards.
Sophomore kicker Andy Severson booted a 38-yard field goal for the scrimmage's first points. Junior quarterback Chris Kuehl and sophomore running back Scott Anderson later capped off nine play scoring drives with eight yard touchdown runs.
Junior running back Kyle Kasperbauer led all rushers with 56 yards on 11 carries.
The defense tallied two sacks and also had a 72-yard interception return by junior defensive back Jeffrey Phelps.
The final major game-type scrimmage of spring practice will be on Saturday, April 10 at Caniglia Field at 1 p.m.
