Mavericks Host 2 Mat Foes
The Mavericks will return to Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse to host Augsburg, the No. 1 ranked team in NCAA Division III on Friday and Northern State, Saturday. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.

The Mavericks bring a 4-0 dual mark and a No. 1 NCAA II ranking into the weekend. Augsburg, the defending NCAA III champion, is 10-1. Both teams won their respective division titles in the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Dual Meet Tournament. Northern State is 4-5 on the season.
The Series
This will be the first meeting on the mat between UNO and both Augsburg and Northern State. The Auggies are an NCAA Division III school located in Minneapolis. Northern State is a member of the NCAA II Northern Sun Conference and is located in Aberdeen, S.D.
Streaks on the Line
Three Augsburg wrestlers are unbeaten this season entering Friday's match. Junior 157-pounder Marcus LeVesseur at 24-0 is 108-0 for his career, representing the second-longest winning streak in college history. In addition, 125-pound Matt Shankey is 8-0 and has won 21 straight matches and 133-pound senior Mark Matzek is 22-0 with a winning streak of 31. All three won Division III national titles in 2004.
The Coach
Mike Denney is in his 26th season as the Maverick head coach. The Dakota Wesleyan graduate has a 248-99-5 career mark. He has twice been named the NCAA II National Coach of the Year and led the 1991 and the 2004 Mavericks to NCAA II national championships.

The Mavericks will be at home to host Central Oklahoma Friday, Feb. 4, and Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, Feb. 5 in duals at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse.
