Wrestling Banquet Set For April 15

The University of Nebraska at Omaha wrestling team, fresh off its second consecutive national championship, will hold its annual banquet on Friday, April 15 at the Crowne Plaza at 655 No. 108th Ave. in Old Mill.
A social hour and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the banquet starting at 7 p.m. The banquet, which will commemorate the Mavericks' 2005 championship season, is open to the public. Tickets are $15. For more information or to order tickets, contact Geri Backora at 402-554-2506.
The Mavericks won their second straight NCAA Division II wrestling title on March 12 at Sapp Fieldhouse. It's the third time under UNO Head Coach Denney that UNO has won a national wrestling championship.
The Mavericks crowned three national champions at the 2005 NCAA II Championships. Nebraska-Omaha's Patrick Allibone (157 pound sophomore), J.D. Naig (165 pound sophomore), and Les Sigman (285 pound junior) all won national titles. Sigman won his third straight national championship.
