Mavs Take to the Road for 2 Duals
UNO will get back into dual competition with a two-match road trip into Minnesota. The Mavericks will face their first North Central Conference dual of the season Thursday when they visit St. Cloud State for a 7 p.m. match. Friday, the Mavericks will be in Minneapolis to tangle with Augsburg, the 2005 NCAA Division III national champions, also at 7 p.m. Saturday,

Last Week
Cody Garcia won his fourth tournament of the year, capturing the 125-pound title at the Brand Open at Sapp Fieldhouse. Garcia was named the meet's outstanding wrestler and also tied for the trophy for the most falls in the least time. The Mavs had eight wrestlers finish among the top three in the meet.
The Coach
Mike Denney is in his 27th season as the Maverick head coach. The Dakota Wesleyan graduate has a 256-101-5 career mark. He has twice been named the NCAA II National Coach of the Year and led the 1991, 2004 and 2005 Mavericks to NCAA II national championships. UNO has also won three National Dual titles, in 1997, 2005 and 2006.

The Mavs were expecting to participate in the Great Plains Open in Lincoln, Neb., Saturday, however, that meet has been canceled...Les Sigman will sit out this weekend, nursing a shoulder injury...Garcia was named an NCC wrestler of the week after winning the Brand Open, sharing the award with John Koons of Minnesota State, Mankato.
On Deck
UNO will have two road duals next week, traveling to Central Oklahoma for a match Feb. 3, and then will face Nebraska-Kearney for a Feb. 4 dual. Both will begina at 7 p.m. UNO's only two home duals will be Feb. 10 vs. No. 2 ranked Minnesota State, Mankato and Feb. 12 vs. Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. UNO will conclude its dual season Feb. 15 at Augustana.
