Mavericks Pin Huskies, 53-0
ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- The Mavericks recorded seven falls Thursday night en route to a 53-0 North Central Conference wrestling win over St. Cloud State at Halenbeck Hall. UNO will now face a showdown with NCAA Division III No. 2 Augsburg Friday night in Minneapolis.
UNO did not allow an offensive point in the match against the 0-4 Huskies in improving to 5-0 in duals this season. It was UNO's first NCC dual, while St. Cloud State fell to 0-2.
Codey Garcia, Dan Hilario, Shane Unger, Patrick Allibone, Ross Taplin, J.D. Naig and Tony Lewis all had pins, Mitch Waite and Nate Oviatt had major decisions and Nick Edmonds a decision for the Mavericks.
It was the largest margin of victory and the most points by a UNO team in a dual match since a 54-0 win over Colorado School of Mines in the 1980-81 season. The record is a 57-0 victory over Lincoln (Mo.) University in 1976-77.
