Naig, Marrs Lead UNO Wrestlers at Nichols Open
FORT DODGE, Iowa -- Senior JD Naig (174) and redshirt freshman Jacob Marrs (197) each placed second at the Harold Nichols Open Saturday to pace the Mavericks in the non-scored tournament which attracted over 300 wrestlers and 12 teams, including Division I schools Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, and South Dakota State.
Naig, the two-time defending national champion, finished the meet with a 4-1 mark. Marrs compiled a 3-1 record. Sophomore Tony Lewis (285) placed fourth in the tournament, finishing 4-2.

The Mavericks will host the Kaufman-Brand Open on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. The meet, the largest one-day collegiate tournament in the nation, will get underway at 9 a.m. and will feature some of the top wrestlers and teams in the nation among all divisions. Over 700 wrestlers from approximately 50 teams are expected to compete.
