Marrs Named NCC Wrestler of the Week
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Sophomore Jacob Marrs has been named the North Central Conference Wrestler of the Week for his performances last week at UNO's Kaufman-Brand Open.
Marrs, a sophomore from Clay Center, Kan., went 4-0 and claimed the championship in the Elite Division 197-pound class at the Kaufman-Brand Open.
Marrs started the tournament with a pin of John Justice of Dana in 1:47. He then posted a 8-0 major decision over Justin Bronson of Minnesota and a 6-2 win over Luke Lofthouse of Iowa. In the finals, Marrs had a 4-3 win over Andrew Anderson of Northern Iowa, a qualifier to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships last season.
