As a freshman in 2006-07: Finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2007 NCC Outdoor Championships...placed sixth in the 800 and third in the distance medley relay at the 2007 NCC Indoor Meet...qualified for the NCAA II Indoor Championships in the distance medley relay which notched a school record time of 11:54.11.
High School: Five-time all-state honors in trach and cross-country... best time of 59 seconds in 400m and 2:15.4 in 800m, a school record... coached by Doug Lindner.
Personal: Born Feb. 11, 1988 in Bismark, N.D...parents are Mike and Margaret Nelson... has one sister, Melissa, and two brothers, Matthew and Marcus... majoring in political science... plans to go to law school.
