
Pile Named NCC Player of the Week, Joins Three Mav

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- UNO sophomore Meghan Pile was named the North Central Conference's defensive player of the week on Tuesday and on Wednesday was named to the conference all-academic team, along with three other Mavs.
Joining Pile on the team are senior Stephanie Kirby, a three-time member, junior Rachel Tushner and sophomore Amy Price. Junior Jaime Venhaus and sophomore Christen Boeckel were given honorable mention.
Last Sunday, Pile, a journalism student with a 3.776 GPA, led the Mavs to a shutout over South Dakota as they grabbed the No. 2 seed in the NCC tournament. Pile had two shots in the game and helped limit the Coyotes to just seven shots, three on goal. Overall the Maverick defense is giving up just nine shots a game and 4.7 shots on goal per game this year.
Kirby, one of four student-athletes named to the team the past three years, has a 3.975 GPA in biology. Tushner has a 3.926 in exercise science and Price has a 3.598 in biology.
The Mavs will wrap-up the regular season Sunday at Rockhurst with a noon match up and NCC tournament play begins Nov. 7 for UNO with a North Dakota rematch.
