McLeay, Matthes Named Honorable Mention All-NCC

Junior outside hitter Amy McLeay and junior middle blocker Alyssa Matthes each earned 2003 honorable mention, all-North Central Conference honors in a vote by league coaches.
McLeay finished second in the NCC in kills per game (4.00) and seventh in digs per game (4.07). In her first season in a Maverick uniform, McLeay recorded a team-high 20 double-doubles, including eight consecutive matches from Aug. 31 to Sep. 12. In addition, she registered 20-or-more kills on eight occasions. McLeay, led the Mavericks in kills in 20 of 30 matches in 2003 and was named to the all-tournament teams at the Lynn Labor Day Classic and the UNO Tournament.
Matthes led the 2003 Mavericks with a .280 hitting percentage and 93 total blocks. In the final NCC statistics for conference games only, Matthes finished 11th in hitting percentage (.266) and 13th in blocks per game (0.76).
