
Mavs Throttle Mesa State, 80-67

GOLDEN, COLO. -- Arthur Boults scored 14 points and C.J. Martin added 11 points and 14 rebounds to help lead the Mavericks to an 80-67 win over Mesa State in the Colorado Mines Classic Friday night as UNO improved to 2-0 on the young season. The Mavs will meet host Colorado Mines Saturday night at 9 CST in the second game of the classic.
UNO used a 15-0 run in the first half to pull away from a 12-12 tie in the opening minutes and was never seriously threatened the rest of the way. The Mavs led at halftime, 37-27, while holding Mesa State (0-1) to just 21 percent shooting (5-for-24) the opening 20 minutes.
The Mavericks built their lead to as many as 23 points the second half before coating to the win.
Martin and Ryan Curtis each added 11 points and Tola Dada chipped in with 10. Martin's career-best 14 rebounds led both teams while playing just 18 minutes.
