16th-Ranked Minnesota State Sweeps UNO

Mankato, Minn. -- Senior All-American outside hitter Jen Jacobs recorded a team-high 20 kills and 14 digs as No. 16 Minnesota State, Mankato swept Nebraska-Omaha 3-0 (30-21, 30-22, 30-22) in North Central Conference volleyball action Saturday night before 266 fans at Bresnan Arena in Mankato. The loss dropped UNO to 11-18 overall and 2-11 in the NCC. Minnesota State improved to 19-8 overall, with a 9-4 conference mark.
Junior outside hitter Jenny Rankin was the lone Maverick to manage double-figure kills, registering 11 kills along with a team-high nine digs. Junior middle blocker Andrea Wegner tallied seven kills on a team-high .500 hitting percentage (7k-0e-14a).
Minnesota State hit a sizzling .351 on the night, compared to the Mavericks' .188 attack percentage. Minnesota State also held an 14-6 advantage in blocks.
The Mavericks will close out the 2003 season on Thursday, Nov. 13 when UNO travels to Vermillion, S.D. to take on South Dakota in a 7 p.m. NCC match.
