Mavs Add Northeast CC Forward/Center Jay Aldag

Jay Aldag, a 6-10, 255-pound forward/center who played the past two seasons at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Nebraska at Omaha, head men's basketball coach Kevin McKenna said today.
Aldag, who is a graduate of Battle Creek, Neb., High School, averaged 12.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game last year while playing at Northeast under Coach Dan Anderson. He earned first-team All-Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference honors and was selected to the Omaha World-Hearald's all-Nebraska junior college second team.
Northeast was 21-10 last season and had a 40-22 two-season record during Aldag's career. He will be a junior at UNO and will have two seasons of eligibility.
Aldag is the fourth player to sign a national letter of intent with the Mavericks. He joins three other junior college transfers, Randy Bland, a 6-5 forward from Cuyamaca (Calif.) College, Arthur Boults, a 6-2 guard from Omaha who played at Iowa Western Community College, and 6-11 center Levy Jones, from Minneapolis, Minn., who last played at Minneapolis Community/Technical College. Last fall, the Mavericks signed all-state guard Tyron Canby from Lincoln (Neb.) High School.
