Mastny Leads Alumni Over Mavericks

With a roster consisting of six former All-Americans, the Nebraska-Omaha Alumni defeated the UNO Mavericks 30-25, 30-20, 30-22, 30-24 before 245 in an exhibition match at the Sapp Fieldhouse Saturday night. Nikki Mastny, a two-time All-American pounded 24 kills on a .420 attack percentage, while adding 11 digs and four blocks to lead the Alumni attack.
Junior middle blocker Alyssa Matthes led the Mavericks with 12 kills and a .423 attack percentage. Junior Amy Sibbernsen added 10 kills and nine digs. Senior captain Kylie Lebeda contributed with 36 assists, seven digs, and three kills.
The exhibition was the final tune-up for the Mavericks as they start the 2003 regular season next weekend when they travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to participate in the Lynn University Tournament on Aug. 30-31.
