Mavs Down Truman State, 2-0

WARRENSBURG, Mo.- No. 2 UNO was outshot for the first time since the 2001 NCC tournament, but an early goal by junior Ashley Grace and six big saves from sophomore Amy Price led to a 2-0 win over 14th-ranked Truman State Saturday in game one of the CMSU Classic. The Mavs have left all three opponents scoreless this year and have shut out the Bulldogs three straight times.
Grace's goal came at the 3:25 mark on a cross from the left by freshman Haley Fries, her second assist on the year. Grace then scored her third of the season, unassisted and ten feet out, in the 33rd minute to give the Mavs a 2-0 lead.
Truman State managed nine shots to the Mavs seven, but Price stopped everyone on goal to secure her second shutout. Bulldog keeper Lauren Davis made two saves as her team fell to 1-1-0.
The last time the Mavs (3-0-0) were outshot was Nov. 3, 2001, in the opening round of the North Central Conference tournament against Northern Colorado. UNC edged UNO 23-14 on shots but the Mavs put one in for the 1-0 win.
Host Central Missouri State will play the Mavs Sunday at 2 p.m. in the final game of the tournament.
