Rankin, McLeay Lead Mavs To Win Over UND

Omaha, Neb. -- Senior outside hitters Jenny Rankin and Amy McLeay combined for 34 kills and hit .375 to lead 24th-ranked Nebraska-Omaha to a 30-21, 30-25, 30-24 win over North Dakota before 1,095 fans in North Central Conference volleyball action Saturday night, Oct. 16, at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
Rankin recorded season-high marks with 15 kills and a .462 hitting percentage with only three errors in 26 attempts. McLeay had a match-high 19 kills, including 10 in the first game, and hit .316 while adding five digs and four blocks.
Junior setter Christie Johnson dished out a match-high 45 assists and added two service aces, seven digs, and a career-high five blocks. Junior libero Chelsea Miller led the Mavericks defensively with a match-high 16 digs as UNO held a 53-38 advantage in digs for the match.
The Mavericks hit for a season-high .328 in the match while holding North Dakota to a .157 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Aileen Cahill led the Sioux with 11 kills and six digs. Cahill was the only North Dakota player to manage double-figures in kills. Sophomore Christina Van Der Most recorded a double-double with 12 assists and 12 digs.
Nebraska-Omaha (13-6, 4-2 NCC) will return to action next Friday, Oct. 22, when they play host to sixth-ranked Minnesota-Duluth beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sapp Fieldhouse
