UNO Beats First Conference Foe 4-1

St Cloud, Minn.---UNO soccer took care of its first North Central Conference opponent, posting a 4-1 victory over St. Cloud State. Freshman Brandie Beale scored the first goal of the game at the 11:38 mark on a pass from Meghan Pile. Just under three minutes later Beth McGill tallied her 11th goal of the season, assisted by Anne Willrett.
The Mavs lengthened their lead to three when freshman Ali Portell scored at the 38:11 mark on an assist from Haley Fries. St. Cloud State sliced UNO's lead to two when Anne Litecky netted a goal just before the half. UNO added another goal at the 53:16 clip When Brandie Beale sent a ball to Amber Richardson,who netted the goal.
The Maverick offense and defense were too much for the Huskies as they held St. Cloud State to two shots, while the Mavs fired 30 shots including 12 shots-on-goal. Over the past two games UNO has only allowed two shots, and only one shot-on-goal.
Amy Price and Ellen Peterson both saw action between the pipes for UNO.
With the win, UNO improved to 9-2-1 record and has not lost since September 11, when current No. 2-ranked Truman State defeated the Mavs 1-0.
