Mavericks Set to Open Season at UNK

The Mavericks will lift the curtain on the 2004-05 season Monday night when they visit Nebraska-Kearney for an 8 p.m. showdown that matches two NCAA Division II tournament teams from last spring.
Head Coach Kevin McKenna, who has guided the Mavericks to three straight 20-win seasons, will be unveiling his fourth UNO squad. The Mavs return eight letterwinners from last year's 22-8 team that won the North Central Conference regular season and tournament titles. The top returning scorer is 6-3 senior guard Andre Tarpley, who averaged 8.7 points last season.
The UNK game starts a busy stretch for the Mavericks, who will play six games in 12 days. UNO will meet Midland Lutheran College on Thursday, Nov. 18, in its home opener at 7 p.m. at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse.
