2 Recruits Sign National Letters With UNO

Coach Bill Nichols has announced that two high school recruits, one from Omaha and the other from Texas, have signed national letters of intent to attend UNO next fall and play tennis. Both have signed during the NCAA's early-signing period and are Nichols' first recruits of 2004-05.
Rachel Faulk has one state title and two third-place finishes already to her credit at Omaha's Marian High School under Coach Beth Swift. Faulk is the daughter of Charles and Carla Faulk and plans to major in biology next fall at UNO. She won the No. 2 singles title as a freshman.
Elizabeth Gershel, from Georgetown, Tex., is following in her father's footsteps. Elizabeth finished third in the state Class 2A signles last year with a 45-1 mark. She was 47-1 as a sophomore at Georgetown High School. She is the daughter of Rose and Chris Gershel, and her father also attended UNO. She plans to major in mechanical engineering next fall.
The Mavericks will open their spring season Feb. 4 against Nebraska Wesleyan at the Hanscom Park tennis facility.
