Mavs Pick up 8-1 Win over Augustana

Pam Le and Maggie Russell finally found a way for the Mavs to win at No. 1 doubles as UNO topped Augustana 8-1 Friday night at Hanscom Park Tennis Center. The Mavs swept doubles play and lost just one singles match as they improved to 5-2 and AC dropped to 0-1.
No. 1 singles player Sara Batchelor topped Viking Melanie Feehan 6-2, 6-4 and picked up her fourth win. Anna Ristic also picked up her fourth win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 4 over Katie Bohl. The two lead the team in the win category. Mikaila Spalding notched her first win of the year with a 6-3, 6-1 score at No. 3 over Mallory Larsen. Also winning for the Mavs were Lindsay Loveland at No. 5 and Elizabeth Glogowski at No. 6. Abby Wilson, playing at No. 2 for the first time this year, fell 7-5, 6-3 to the Viking's Tara Tesmer.
Le and Russell scored the Mavs a No. 1 doubles point for the first time in eight duals with an 8-1 victory over Feehan/Tesmer. The No. 2 team of Sarah Huls and Lindsay Henjum and No. 3 team Ristic/Loveland also won for UNO.
The Mavericks will head back to Hanscom for three matches next weekend. Friday they will host Graceland, Saturday they will face Nebraska-Kearney and Sunday they will take on Sioux Falls.
