Mavs Fall 7-2 in Dual to Shockers

Abby Wilson won at No. 6 singles and Sarah Huls and Maggie Russell won at No. 3 doubles as the Mavs lost 7-2 to Wichita State Sunday afternoon at Hanscom Park Tennis Center. The Mavs fell to 1-2 on the year.
Wilson took the first set 6-2 but lost the second by the same score to the Shockers' Courtenay Donnelly to force the tie breaker. Wilson won the first to ten format 10-5 to improve her singles record to 2-1. Huls and Wilson played out a long doubles match against Marisa Simmons and Courtenay Donnelly and held on to win 8-6 for the other Maverick win.
The Mavs will head to St. Peter, Minn., to take on Gustavus Adolphus Friday at 6 p.m. and Winona State and North Dakota Saturday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. Winona and UND both made it to the NCAA tournament last year.
