Mavs Upset Bearcats in Two Different Places

MARYVILLE, Mo., and SAINT JOSEPH, Mo.- They may have had to pick everything up and head to dry land, but the Mavericks were able to hang on and defeat North Central Region No. 3 Northwest Missouri State 6-3 Saturday afternoon.
UNO, ranked fifth in the region, started the day by winning two of three doubles matches in Maryville at NMSU's outdoor courts. With rain coming down, the two teams packed up and headed to Missouri Western State College's indoor facility in Saint Joseph to finish the match.
In the doubles matches Sarah Huls and Lindsay Henjum teamed up to win at No. 2 and Abby Wilson and Mikaila Spalding won at No. 3 before weather caused the unexpected break.
The Mavs needed to win three of six singles matches to clinch the win. The Bearcats won at No. 1 and No. 2 but UNO went on the sweep the final four spots.
Lindsay Henjum hung on to win a marathon match 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 against Sra Lipira at No. 3. Maggie Russell won at No. 4; Abby Wilson won at No. 5; and Shannon Dinovo won at No. 6.
The Mavericks extended their team record with their 11th straight win and improved to 12-2 and 8-0 in the region. NMSU fell to 2-3.
