UNO Stuns No. 7 Michigan, 3-1

Ann Arbor, Michigan--Nebraska-Omaha evened their CCHA playoff series with No. 7 Michigan Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over the Wolverines in game two at Yost Ice Arena.
UNO goaltender Chris Holt looked sharp for the second-straight night, stopping 29 of 30 UM shots for UNO's first playoff victory in six tries and first-ever victory in Ann Arbor since joining the CCHA in 1999.
"We wanted to make sure we paid the price tonight and played within ourselves," UNO head coach Mike Kemp said. "For us to play with poise this evening was very important."
Michigan took a 1-0 lead three minutes into the contest on a rebound goal by Mike Brown. The Mavericks responded and knotted the score at 1-1 with six minutes remaining in the opening period on a Scott Parse 5x3 power play goal. Parse snuck one by UM goaltender Al Montoya on a nifty wrist shot from the left goalline for his 15th goal of the season.
After killing off two back-to-back Wolverine power plays, the Mavericks gained a 2-1 lead on a goal by Andrew Wong at 9:40 of the second period. Kaleb Betts wrapped around the UM net and flipped a snap shot that bounced off Montoya to Wong in front of the net where he stuffed it home.
Michigan had a chance to tie the score with 12 minutes remaining in the third period when Jason Ryzar clanked a slap shot off the left post.
Anthony Adams gave the Mavs the insurance goal they needed with 6:05 remaining in the final period on a breakaway goal. Adams took a pass from Alex Nikiforuk from the Maverick blueline and skated past two UM defensman to beat Montoya with a wrist shot.
"Tony's goal was big," Kemp said. "It gave us some breathing room."
The two teams meet in game three Sunday night for the right to advance to the CCHA Super Six. Faceoff is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
