Mavs, USD to Meet at 1 p.m. in Regional Saturday

The Mavericks will face South Dakota at 1 p.m. CST in the first round of the NCAA Division II North Central Regional Saturday in Denver. The pairings were announced Sunday evening. The Mavericks, the regular season champions in the North Central Conference, earned an automatic bid to the tournament with Saturday's 82-70 win over the Coyotes in the Wells Fargo Finals championship game at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Tickets are available beginning Tuesday at the Sapp Fieldhouse ticket office or by phoning 554-MAVS. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students for the Friday afternoon session.

Nebraska-Kearney vs. Bemidji State, 3:30 p.m.
Metro State vs. Mesa State, 7 p.m.
Northern State vs. South Dakota State, 9:30 p.m.
UNO will be making its second appearance in the NCAA tournament in three years under coach Kevin McKenna. The Mavericks have made eight previous trips to the NCAA tournament. UNO ended an 18-year lapse with a 2002 appearance in Brookings, S.D. The last previous appearance was in 1984 when UNO hosted a four-team regional. UNO is 3-5 in first-round games and 6-15 overall.
