
Mavs Will Face SCSU in NCAA Tournament

The Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks received the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Central Region tournament and will rematch with fourth-seeded St. Cloud State in the first round May 7 in Topeka, Kan., at 1 p.m. No. 1 seed and host Washburn will battle Minnesota-Duluth in the other first-round match. The two winners will meet Saturday, May 8 at 9 a.m. for a chance to advance to the NCAA championships in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The Mavs fell 5-4 to SCSU in their last dual of the season and finished with a 15-5 record. UNO took two doubles points but the Huskies won four of six singles matches to claim the victory. In last weekend's North Central Conference tournament the Mavs edged SCSU (18-6) by seven points to take second place.
UNO lost 5-4 to Washburn earlier in the year and defeated Duluth 9-0.
The other half of the North Central Region qualifiers will dual at Northwest Missouri State. The Bearcats took the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 7 Missouri Southern State and third-ranked North Dakota will battle Metro State.
This is the Mavs' second straight trip to the NCAA tournament. Last year they fell 5-1 to Washburn in the first round.
