Mavs Top Midland Lutheran 8-1 in Home Finale

The Mavs played their final home dual of the year outdoors at the Koch Family Tennis Center and defeated Midland Lutheran 8-1 Wednesday night to improve to 14-4 halfway through a busy week. UNO swept doubles play and took five of six singles matches to gain the win and give Midland (5-1) its first loss of the year.
In doubles Lindsay Henjum and Sarah Huls went to 13-1 with a win at No. 2 while Pam Le and Maggie Russell improved to 9-3 at the top doubles spot. Abby Wilson and Mikaila Spalding improved to 7-1 with a win at No. 3.
In singles matches, Sara Batchelor fell 7-5, 6-2 to Warrior No. 1 player Cassie Goodenough to drop her record to 8-7; Lindsay Henjum improved to 8-5 with a win at No. 2; Maggie Russell went to 8-2 with a win at No. 3; Abby Wilson improved to 8-5 with her second win at No. 4; Mikaila Spalding went to 7-5 with a win at No. 5; and Shannon Dinovo became the first Mav to win ten matches since 2002 with a victory at No. 6.
UNO, ranked first in the NCAA's North Central Region rankings, will close out regional play with a neutral-site dual with Minnesota State, Mankato Friday at 6:30 p.m. and a dual at St. Cloud State Saturday at noon. A dual at Drake April 14 will finish the regular season before UNO hosts the NCC tournament April 23-24.
