2004 Mavericks Favored by League Coaches

The 2004 University of Nebraska-Omaha soccer team has been picked to finish first in the North Central Conference Preseason Coaches Poll garnering five first place votes with Minnesota State receiving the remaining two votes.
UNO returns nine starters and 16 letterwinners including All-American Becca Fritz to a squad that finished 17-4-2 and made it to the NCAA semifinals, before losing 1-0 to eventual champion Kennesaw State. In conference play, the Mavericks compiled a 5-1-1 record, finishing second in the regular season standings and third in the conference tournament. At the conclusion of the 2003 season, UNO was ranked 4th in the final NSCAA/Adidas Division II ranking.
The Mavericks open up their season with the annual "Meet the Mavs" day slated for Aug. 21st at 4 p.m. The regular season opens August 27 in Denver, Colorado in a tough match-up against Metropolitan State-Denver at 5 p.m. In 2003, the Roadrunners of Metro State finished 5th in the final NSCAA/Adidas Division II ranking, also making a trip to the NCAA semifinals. The Mavericks take their 26 home game unbeaten streak into this season hosting 10 contests at Ak-Sar-Ben Field with the first home match set for Sat. Sept 11 at 2:15 p.m. versus Truman State. Conference play will begin Sat. October 2 versus St. Cloud State, as the Mavericks look to regain the conference title.
