Maverick Soccer Travels to Kansas for Two Games

OMAHA, Neb.-- UNO will hit the road after five straight home contests. First up on the Maverick itinerary is Emporia State Saturday Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. Following the game with the Hornets, UNO will travel to Topeka, Kan. to face Washburn University Sunday Sept. 26, also at 1 p.m. Last weekend the Mavericks downed then No. 16 Southwest Baptist 3-2 Saturday, followed by a 2-1 overtime victory versus Missouri Southern on Sunday. Wednesday, the Mavs burned Rockhurst for five goals in a 5-0 victory.

The Mavericks carry a 1-0 record versus both Emporia State and Washburn including victories of 2-0 and 4-0 respectively last season.
Recently, Washburn University set the NCAA Division II record for single-game attendance with 1,848. The Lady Blues are averaging over 1,000 in attendance for each of their home games.
Mavs Back in National Poll
After slipping out of the NSCAA/adidas national poll last week, the Mavericks find themselves back in the poll at No. 16 following a 3-2 defeat of then No. 16 Southwest Baptist.
About the Hornets
Emporia State enters this weekends matchup versus UNO with a 4-3 record, carrying a four-game home winning streak. The Hornets suffered a loss to Texas A&M Commerce 2-1 and No. 20 Central Oklahoma 4-1 at the Texas A&M Commerce Classic last weekend. Emporia is led by forwards junior Brandie Booth and freshman Melodie Zdanek. Booth leads the team with seven goals including three game winners. Zdanek has scored four goals adding two assists. Between the pipes is Sophomore Erin Allen who has three shutout wins, playing every minute as the Hornets goalie.
About Lady Blues
Washburn carries a 2-3-0 record into the matchup against UNO. Sophomore midfielder Jolene Silovsky leads the Lady Blues with three goal and has also added an assist. Jenna Lawless has added some spark to the Washburn offensive attack with two goals an two assists. Sophomore goalie Jenna Hatlestad has allowed nine goals, making 34 saves. On Sept 17th, Washburn was defeated 4-1 by central region No. 1 Truman State. Washburn will face Southwest Baptist this Friday.

Last week UNO dropped then No. 16 Southwest Baptist 3-2, Missouri Southern 2-1 in overtime, and Rockhurst 5-0. Versus Southwest Baptist, UNO tallied scores from Beth McGill, Ali Portell and Anne Willrett to hold off the Southwest attack. Amy Price played all 90 minutes and had one save. Against Missouri Southern UNO faced its first overtime challenge of the season, winning on a penalty kick from McGill. Only scoring two goals, UNO outshot Missouri Southern 32-6. Goalie Amy Price was able to send the game to overtime as she made a game-saving stop with seconds remaining in regulation. UNO faced Rockhurst University Wednesday and avenged a 2-0 loss to the Hawks last season. Anne Willrett began the scoring early connecting unasssited at 5:33. Willrett's goal was the only score going into the half, but following the break, UNO struck quickly. Assisted by Dani McCawley, Beth McGill headed in her team-leading seventh goal on the year. Goals by Willrett, Brandie Beale, and Rachel Tushner rounded out the UNO scoring attack in the 5-0 win.
