McGill Named MVP as Awards Roll in for UNO

Junior forward Beth McGill was named the North Central Conference player of the year and forward Amanda Iwansky was named the freshman of the year as the Mavericks put six players on the all-NCC team announced Thursday. The Mavs also had 11 players named to the North Central Conference Honor Roll.
McGill, who led the league in in-conference scoring, was joined by Iwansky, sophomore forward Brandie Beale and junior midfielder Amber Richardson on the first team and senior defenders Meghan Pile and Becca Fritz on the second team. McGill earned her second first-team honor and Iwansky, the fifth Maverick named freshman of the year in seven years of soccer, was the only freshman to make the first team. McGill, an All-American last year, is the third UNO player named MVP.
Four Named to All-District Academic Team
The Mavericks named four players to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII women's soccer team. Amy Price, Danielle McCawley, Pile and McGill all earned spots on the college division second team.
UNO Places 11 on Academic Honor Roll
The Mavericks placed 11 student-athletes on the North Central Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll released Wednesday by the conference office. UNO had more players named to the team than any other school. Seniors Pile, Christen Boeckel and Price, juniors Megan Herzberg, McGill and Richardson, sophomores Erin Fosnaugh, McCawley, Ellen Petersen and Ali Portell and freshman Elle Ebisch all earned a spot on the team.
