McGill Named an All-American for Second Year

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Junior forward Beth McGill earned her second straight National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American award as the team was announced at the NCAA II Women's and Men's Soccer Championships banquet Wednesday night. McGill, the team and North Central Conference leading scorer, joined sophomore forward Brandie Beale, junior midfielder Amber Richardson and senior defender Meghan Pile on the all-Central Region first team.

McGill has scored 39 points this year off 16 goals and seven assists. She also has five game-winners and has scored 15 points against ranked opponents this year. Beale is fourth in the conference with 32 points (11g, 10a) while Richardson has 16 points (6g, 4a). Pile has helped the UNO defense to a 0.55 goals against average and 11 shutouts. All four players were on the all-region team last year.
McGill earned the seventh-ranked Mavs their seventh All-American award and she became the second Maverick to earn two straight honors.
The Mavericks (18-2-0) will begin their fourth straight final four as they face No. 4 Franklin Pierce (19-1-2) Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Midwestern State Soccer Field. The winner will face either Carson-Newman or Seattle Pacific in the championship game Saturday at 1 p.m., broadcast live on NET2.
