Mavericks Face 2-Game Week

The Mavericks end their longest lay-off of the season this week as they play two non-conference games at Concordia-St. Paul on Thursday at 7 p.m., then will return home after a three-week absence to host Doane College on Friday afternoon at 1.
The Records
The Mavs carry an 8-6 record into this week's play. UNO is coming off a 64-60 loss to Truman State that ended a four-game winning streak. Concordia-St. Paul is 9-2 and is riding a four-game win streak. Doane is 6-9.
The Series
UNO won the only previous meeting with Concordia-St. Paul, 74-73, in Omaha in 2003-04. The Mavericks have a 43-13 advantage in the series vs. Doane. UNO won last year, 81-57.
Last Week
The Mavericks split games in the Quincy Holiday Tournament Dec. 17-18. UNO breezed past Central State, 80-54, behind Zac Robinson's 16 points and 13 by Quantel Murphy in the opening game. Truman State ended UNO's four-game winning streak in the championship match-up, 64-60. Murphy led with 15 points and Ryan Curtis added 14 and nine rebounds.
Radio
The Dec. 31 game against Doane will be broadcast on KOZN, 1620 AM, with David Gustafson calling the action. Air time will be at 12:50 p.m.

The Mavericks open North Central Conference play with road games at Augustana on Jan. 5 and at North Dakota on Jan. 7.
The Coach
Derrin Hansen is in his first season as a collegiate head coach. The seven-year Maverick assistant took over the program in June. He is a 1991 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University. He served as the head basketball and track coach at Elmwood-Murdock, Neb., High School for two years and was a graduate assistant at Nebraska-Kearney while earning his master's degree in 1995. Kenya Crandell is the associate head coach and Mitch Mosser the assistant coach.
