Strong Singles Play Lifts Mavs Past Cougars

The UNO Tennis team notched wins in 4 of 5 singles matches on its way to 7-2 victory over Chicago State on Friday night.
The Cougars, who only had five players available due to injury, earned victory at No. 1 singles where Robbie Barnett defeated Katie Schmidt after forcing a tiebreaker. The Cougars' Robbie Barnett and Edyta Urban outlasted the Mavericks' team of Schmidt and Maggie Russell 9-8 to earn a victory at No. 1 doubles.
The Mavericks(8-4,3-0 NCC)earned their fourth straight victory overall and were able to post its first-ever victory over Chicago State.
UNO will return to action on Sunday when it hosts Rockhurst University in an 11 a.m. dual at Hanscom Park. The Mavericks will try and snap a three match losing streak against the Lady Hawks.
