Mavs to Meet Winona State in Regional in Denver

The Mavericks will make their 10th trip to the NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament when they play Winona (Minn.) State Saturday at 3:30 p.m. CST in Denver in the eight-team North Central Regional. This will be UNO's second straight tournament appearance and its third in four seasons under Coach Kevin McKenna.
UNO, 23-5 and ranked No. 5 in NCAA II last week, is the No. 2 seed in the field and 23-10 Winona State is the No. 7 seed.
The tournament will be at the Auraria Events Center in Denver on the campus of the host team, Metropolitan State.
This will be the fourth meeting all-time with Winona State and UNO has won all three previous contests. The last time the teams met was in the opening game of the 2003-04 season. UNO posted a 71-66 win at Winona State.
The Mavericks are the regular season North Central Conference champions and are coming off a 62-52 loss in the Wells Fargo Finals semifinal game last Friday to Minnesota State, Mankato.
