Mavericks Advance in NCAA Tournament

TOPEKA, Kan. --The Maverick Tennis team advanced into the NCAA Sweet 16 after posting a 5-2 victory over Washburn University in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory the Mavericks won the North Central Region pod and will advance to play in the NCAA Sweet 16 on May 11-14 in Almonte Springs, Fla.
The Mavericks took a 3-0 lead after sweeping through doubles competition. The Maverick's No. 1 team of Pam Le and Maggie Russell posted a 8-1 victory over The Lady Blue's top pair of Jennifer Keiner and Caitlin Day.
In singles competition, The Mavericks got victories from Katie Schmidt and Pam Le to secure the championship for UNO.
The Lady Blues first point of the match came with a straight set victory by Audrie Miller over UNO's Sarah Huls. The final point for Washburn came as Julie Huyberechts defeated Lindsay Henjum at No. 3 singles.
The Mavericks impoved to 16-5 overall, while The Lady Blues finish the season with a record of 21-5.
