2 Recruits Sign with Mavericks

Coach Bill Nichols has announced that area tennis standouts Amy Pierson and Kelsey Cochran have signed national letters of intent to attend UNO this fall.
Pierson, the daughter of Jeff and Debbie Pierson of Red Oak, Iowa, was the Southwest Iowa girls' tennis player of the year in 2003 and 2004. She set Red Oak High School records with career marks of 121-11 in singles and 62-6 in doubles competition. She also lettered in volleyball.
Pierson plans to major in nursing at UNO. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is a recipient of the James J. Pilkington Athletic Award.
Cochran, the daughter of Robert and Jill Cochran of Omaha, won the Metro Tournament title at Marian High School in 2003 and was runner-up in 2004 and 2005. She finished fourth in the state tournament all three years and also lettered in cross country.
Cochran, a member of the National Honor Society, will study architecture at UNO. She was also selected for the All-Metro Academic Award.
The Mavericks last season won the North Central Conference and NCAA II regional titles.
