2005 Kicks Off At Central Oklahoma Tournament

Maverick coach Don Klosterman, along with three All-Americans and three other all-region players, will kick off the seventh season of UNO soccer at the Central Oklahoma Carl's Jr. Classic this weekend. The No. 4 Mavs will take on 23rd-ranked UCO Friday at 4 p.m. and Midwestern State Saturday at 1 p.m. as they begin their quest for a fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament. This weekend will mark the second straight time UNO opens the season on the road against a nationally-ranked opponent. It will also mark the first contests against UCO and MSU for the Mavericks.
The Mavs earned the top spot in the NCC preseason poll and were ranked fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll. The Mavs got six of the seven first-place votes in the league poll. Last year UNO won the conference regular season and tournament titles and finished third in the NCAA tournament with a 19-4-2 record. UNO finished fourth in the final NSCAA voting.
