Mavs Sneak by Central Missouri State

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- Freshman Amanda Iwansky's first collegiate goal and sophomore Brandie Beale's second of the year gave the Mavericks a 2-1 win Saturday over Central Missouri State in a neutral-site match. All three of the game's goals were scored in the final 19 minutes of the game.
No. 22 Nebraska-Omaha (2-1) scored at the 71:27 mark when Iwansky found the back of the net unassisted. The Jennies (3-1) scored in the 84th minute then Beale was fed by Amber Richardson for the game-winner at 87:29.
The Mavs pummeled CMSU with 21 shots but only put eight on goal. Central put two of its four shots on goal and Maverick goalkeeper Amy Price made one save. After Price allowed the lone Jenny goal, sophomore Ellen Petersen played in goal for the Mavs to earn the win, the first of her career.
The Mavs will take on host-school Truman Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs defeated Minnesota State, Mankato 4-1 Saturday to improve to 3-2. The two teams will be meeting for the 10th time in the last seven years with the Mavs holding a 7-2 advantage.
