Kapels Earns Nebraska Honor

Calvin Kapels' performances last week while leading the Mavericks to back-to-back wins has earned him the nod as the Nebraska NCAA Division II Player of the Week. It's the second time this year that the Columbus, Neb., senior guard has earned the honor.
Kapels scored 23 points and added six rebounds and five assists to lead the Mavericks past South Dakota, 87-80, last Thursday. Saturday night he scored 23 points again and this time added 10 rebounds and four assists in a 99-77 win over Upper Iowa.
For the week, he shot 55 per cent from the field and hit 20 of 29 from the line.
