Mavs Host Augustana Friday in NCC Match

The Mavericks will conclude a five-match homestand with a game Friday afternoon at 4 against North Central Conference rival Augustana at Ak-Sar-Ben Field. The Mavs then will begin a stretch of five straight road matches, playing at South Dakota in Vermillion at 1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Records
No. 1 ranked UNO is now 11-0 overall and 5-0 in the NCC. Augustana entered the week at 2-8-1 and 0-5-1 and South Dakota at 6-4-1 and 3-2.
The Series
UNO leads Augustana 8-0 after recording a 3-1 win in Sioux Falls, S.D., Sept. 8. The Mavericks hold a 9-0 record against South Dakota, which UNO defeated 1-0 on Sept. 22 in Omaha.
The Coach
Don Klosterman is in his eighth season as the UNO head coach. Klosterman, a 1974 graduate of Benedictine, has a 135-26-4 mark and is the only coach the Mavericks have ever had. He has twice been named the NSCAA Coach of the Year, in 2002 and 2005.
Last Week
UNO won twice to improve to 11-0 on the season and 5-0 in the NCC. The Mavericks downed Wayne State 2-0 on Sept. 27 and defeated St. Cloud State by the same score on Sept. 30. Casey Bigsby scored in each game as the Mavericks limited the Wildcats to one shot on goal and the Huskies to none.
Next Week
The Mavericks will play two NCC games next week on the road, facing St. Cloud State Oct. 14 and Minnesota State, Mankato Oct. 15. Both matches will begin at 1 p.m.

F Senior forward Beth McGill now has 46 goals and 24 assists, putting her past Stephanie Kruse (1999-2002) in career goals and points. She has 24 career assists for 116 career points.
F The 11-0 start is the second-best beginning to a season ever for UNO with the 2003 team. The 2002 squad won its first 22 games before losing in the national championship match.
